Way to go Rick Steves--we are having fun and there are no back-of-the-coach drivers. Today, we leisurely drive north with Ben, our driver. No nap for Tom Hooper, who continues to school us on the "bus" oops "coach"! No rain, squeeze more touring in! |
Ironbridge Gorge, Day 6
- Travel through Worcester to Conwy in North Wales. Take a brief stop at the first Iron Bridge. Make a pit stop, buy lunch to go.
- Back on the bus, for an unscheduled visit to Stokesay Manor House in the Shropshire countryside.
- Head for Caenarfon Castle to meet our excellent guide Martin. Needed a copy of notes; there was so much info.!
- Site seeing from coach enables us to see magnificent views over the endless hedges. Another reason for Rick Steves' tours.
- Stayed at Castle Hotel two nights. Comfortable with an outstanding location. Dinner together tonight.
- Day 7: Choose: tea rooms, hotel fancy, take out/take away food, grocery store items, or soup delis.
Stoksay Manor House, an unscheduled stop.hropshire Countryside
- Beautiful vistas from every castle window.
- Fort was fortified with bats. Passed on that, thank you! Found other places to "shoot" the views!
- The yellow flowered gorse bush invades the hillsides with color. Heather abounds with lovely purple hues.
